Imagine three different parallel universes in the multiverse are brought close together at one point at one time. They are close. Perhaps you can cross from one universe into the other universe through a case of spacetime hemorrhaging.

In one universe it was created by the big bang, everything evolved as The Science has told us is most likely. But in this universe the science is actually correct. Everything is concrete and material, it's all solid and reliable. The laws of physics are stable and predictable. We can plan and build buildings and cities and societies and The Science can predict what is going to happen and what is best for society and humanity.

This is really stable and safe.

This is a good reality.

But we have this little engine of science doing its thing and straining in each direction and discovering the secrets of the universe.

And this is where it gets a bit unsettling.

Let's turn to the words of Lovecraft.

Now what things has science straining in its own directions discovered?

And which of these seperate strands have not been brought together to show what they mean when understood together.

Lets turn to trusty Wikipedia and an introductory level summary of one direction of science. String theory and M theory.

Now I said trusty Wikipedia. But we can't really trust it can we. Its a bit uncertain. But surely if we go and look at the proper academic documents and talk to the experts of The Science they can give us clear and absolute certainty about this topic. Let's hold on to the uncertainty for a minute and take a read. We will probably get back to the safe shores of the Island of Certainty soon.

In the early years of the 20th century, the atom – long believed to be the smallest building-block of matter – was proven to consist of even smaller components called protons, neutrons and electrons, which are known as subatomic particles. Other subatomic particles began being discovered in the 1960s. In the 1970s, it was discovered that protons and neutrons (and other hadrons) are themselves made up of smaller particles called quarks. The Standard Model is the set of rules that describes the interactions of these particles.

In the 1980s, a new mathematical model of theoretical physics, called string theory, emerged. It showed how all the different subatomic particles known to science could be constructed by hypothetical one-dimensional "strings", infinitesimal building-blocks that have only the dimension of length, but not height or width. These strings vibrate in multiple dimensions and, depending on how they vibrate, they might be seen in three-dimensional space as matter, light or gravity. In string theory, every form of matter is said to be the result of the vibration of strings.

However, for string theory to be mathematically consistent, the strings must live in a universe with ten dimensions. String theory explains our perception of the universe to have four dimensions (three space dimensions and one time dimension) by imagining that the extra six dimensions are "curled up", to be so small that they can't be observed day-to-day. The technical term for this is compactification. These dimensions are usually made to take the shape of mathematical objects called Calabi–Yau manifolds.

Five major string theories were developed and found to be mathematically consistent with the principle of all matter being made of strings. Having five different versions of string theory was seen as a puzzle.

Speaking at the string theory conference at the University of Southern California in 1995, Edward Witten of the Institute for Advanced Study suggested that the five different versions of string theory might be describing the same thing seen from different perspectives. He proposed a unifying theory called "M-theory", which brought all of the string theories together. It did this by asserting that strings are an approximation of curled-up two-dimensional membranes vibrating in an 11-dimensional spacetime. According to Witten, the M could stand for "magic", "mystery", or "membrane" according to taste, and the true meaning of the title should be decided when a better understanding of the theory is discovered.

How and Why does the world exist and work, why are we here, we know the answer stupid. Let me tell you, I have an education, I passed the test and got a piece of paper from an institution. I am certified to tell you how and why the world works.

In bosonic string theory, spacetime is 26-dimensional, while in superstring theory it is 10-dimensional, and in M-theory it is 11-dimensional. In order to describe real physical phenomena using string theory, one must therefore imagine scenarios in which these extra dimensions would not be observed in experiments.

But things are feeling pretty uncertain now.

If the role of these Gods is to calm my existential anxiety. My dread that comes from not knowing who I am or why I am here, and the feeling that the stories I'm telling myself are maybe lies. That perhaps I don't know shit.

Then maybe God can solve that existential dread, and give me something to calm the existential anxiety.
